A motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday afternoon on Interstate 79 near Slippery Rock.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center shortly before 5:30 p.m. for a motorcyclist laying on I-79 southbound near the intersection with New Castle Road (Route 108).
When crews arrived on the scene, the person was responsive but a Life Flight helicopter was called to land on I-79 to transport the person for additional medical treatment of unknown injuries.
As a result of the crash and the helicopter, a portion of the interstate needed to be closed to traffic for some time. The cause of that crash and condition of the person involved are both unknown at this time.
